One Rabbi...

I have never been so disenfranchised from rabbis in my life. The stories being told of how rabbis have treated congregants who do not vaccinate are so so so disgraceful . From kicking adults and children out of shul with a letter, from physically confronting them when they try to daven in shul anyway, from strong-arming and calling names, to just being downright unsympathetic, unempathetic, and not even listening to a different point of view. This has led to tremendous hardship to hundreds, if not thousands of families, who refuse to accept the party line that vaccination is so safe and harmless. They have been ostracized from their communities, former friends now hate them (that's really normal and rational - to hate someone over a vaccination stance), their children are not welcome in school, and their rabbi has been party to all of this terrible behavior. So here is another breath of fresh air. Perfect for the 3 weeks! (Those who are blinded by their hatred will surely say,

A Rabbi Takes a Stand

While he signed his name, we at jewishvaccinestories respect privacy and have removed it. We are well aware of the terrible behavior Jews have unleashed towards other Jews who do not vaccinate. This rabbi is a hero! Rabbinic reaction to recent events in New York State: Jewish law, called halacha, prioritizes Torah education above all else. In addition to the Biblical commandment to teach one’s own children, the Torah education of children is a communal obligation. This halachic requirement applies to every single Jewish community without exception.[1] The education of children transcends all other communal obligations. It supersedes all other Biblical commandments, including the construction of the Holy Temple of Jerusalem, the holiest shrine in Judaism.[2] All Jews, even those who have no children or whose children are grown, are equally responsible to ensure that every Jewish child in their community receive a proper Torah education. In halacha, the educat

Churban... what Churban?

In this unsettling time of year in which we mourn the absence of the Beis Hamikdash and yearn for its rebuilding, let's consider our sages' ominous words in the Talmud (Shabbos 119b): אמר רב המנונא לא חרבה ירושלים אלא בשביל שביטלו בה תינוקות של בית רבן שנאמר "שפוך על עולל בחוץ" וגו׳ מה טעם "שפוך"? משום ד'עולל בחוץ' "Rav Hamnuna said: Jerusalem was destroyed only because schoolchildren there were interrupted from studying Torah, as it is stated: '[And I am filled with the wrath of God, I cannot contain it], pour it onto the children in the street...' (Jeremiah 6:11). Rav Hamnuna explains: What is the reason that the wrath is poured? It is because 'children are outside in the streets' and are not studying Torah." Nearly 1,950 years later, Jewish children are yet again 'outside on the streets,' being barred from attending school, prevented from learning Torah. These innocent children are the unfortunate victims of th

There is only one kind of TRUE HERD Immunity

It comes from getting the disease naturally and creating a real immunity. Vaccine immunity wanes, requires boosters all the time, and is not guaranteed. Why does the government say anyone born before 1957 doesn't need shots? Because they were assumed to have been exposed to the real, wild virus, and has lifelong immunity. That's the real herd immunity for infectious diseases. And within a few decades it will be dying off. Thank God for those who have gotten measles naturally in the last few years. They're our only hope.

It is a VERY LONG article. It explains why the fight is neverending, because people who presume to have a moral highground have shut down the conversation through hyperbolic vitriol. OK. It will take over a half hour to read. Best of luck! Feel free to chime in in the comments https://medium.com/@gautamtejasganeshan/is-there-an-intelligible-anti-vaxx-position-52c530b1d518 Is there an intelligible “anti-vaxx” position? Gautam Tejas Ganeshan Jun 22  · 45 min read [UPDATE: This article has been retweeted by the co-founder of Wikipedia, by an ivy league university press, by the scientist with the relevant TED talk, and by the author of a NYT bestselling book on depression.] I am not an “anti-vaxxer”. This is *not* my pet issue. I am not against the promotion of vaccination as one element of a good overall public health policy. I am not against their sensible use, especially considering the variety of circumstances people find

Measles... Gone!

It's hard to explain who are the fools. Is it those who don't vaccinate? Or is it the Jews who didn't protest when the State of NY looked to remove a religious liberty? Let's assume for a moment that neither are fools (hard for some of you to imagine people who don't vaccinate aren't fools, I know). The fools are all of those who buy into media hype. In case you missed it, Measles wasn't eradicated with the passing of the NY law. However, it did disappear from ALL media coverage. Wow. How did that happen? Because pharma won. So they don't need the attention any more. So, who is a fool? The one who lets media dictate the narrative. If the media didn't feed you fearmongering information, reporting on every case of measles (prior to the passing of the law, when they stopped), would you have heard about any measles cases? Would you hate people who didn't vaccinate? You would know nothing about this, and you wouldn't be frightene

A Conversation

Q: So you're an "anti-vaxxer"? A: Yes, if you need to call me that. (Ex-Vaxer......#WeDid) Q: Don't you worry about your child getting sick from vaccine preventable diseases? A: No, not really. I actually have less fear of many of those illnesses now that I've done my research. Q: But what about polio? A: Polio is asymptomatic in over 90% of cases. When symptoms do present, they're usually mild and flu-like. Q: But we don't see iron lungs anymore because of vaccines. A: We don't see iron lungs anymore for the same reason we don't see computers that are large enough to take up an entire room. Technology has come a long way. Q: But even if the risk of getting something serious is small, don't you want to protect your child with vaccines just in case? A: I do want to protect my child, and that is one reason I say no to vaccines. Because in my cost-benefit analysis, the chances of my child being harmed from vaccines is gr

Anti-Semitism... Who is to blame?

This article demonstrates that there is more anti-Semitism in this country than some of us may have realized. So let's ask a simple question. Who is to blame for the uptick in anti-Semitism? Is it Jews who don't vaccinate? Well, many of those who don't vaccinate have been opting out for decades. So it's not the Jews who have been doing this for decades, who were out of the radar. Is it the media? Who hypes up a story?  Um. yes. Is it the Jews who shrei  "It's not us! We're GOOD Jews! We vaccinate! It's them! THOSE Icky Jews!" Um. Yes. Is it the rabbi/doctor quoted in this article who calls people he disagrees with "nuts"? Yes. This rabbi/doctor needs to realize anti-Semites hate him as much as they hate all Jews. And no amount of finger pointing will stop it. And no amount of vaccinating will stop it. And his inflammatory rhetoric, calling people he disagrees with "nuts" while ignoring a world of people who have s

"Rodef!" "Murderer!"

Stop it. Just stop it. We addressed why this argument is nonsense on a scientific level here . Rodef is very simple in halacha. A rodef is literally pursuing someone with designs on murder. Anyone who witnesses the rodef in hot pursuit is allowed to kill the rodef without being subject to penalty under the law. It is essentially a good samaritan self-defense kind of law. If you believe those who don't vaccinate are rodfim, you believe that halacha allows you to kill them. If the only thing that is holding you back from committing murder on these rodfim is US law, you are genuinely mad. Obviously no decent human being truly believes that a vaccination status is a determining factor in who is a rodef. Besides - in many cases it has been vaccinated adults (who had waned immunity because vaccines - shockingly - don't last forever, or maybe, they're not as effective as you think) who have spread measles. So, based on your argument, we should view vaccinated adults
