It's Not Just Jews

One of the more daring and true investigative journalists out there is the author of the following piece. She doesn't spit back information without actually asking true and hard questions. She is 100% right. Shutting down free speech and not answering the hard questions is bad for America. She raises some of the important points we have never found good answers to. So to make this a Jewish issue ("those Jews who don't vaccinate make us look bad") is just taking a play from the anti-Semite playbook. https://www.dailywire.com/news/44452/malkin-vaccine-skeptics-under-siege-michelle-malkin MALKIN: Vaccine Skeptics Under Siege By   MICHELLE MALKIN  @MICHELLEMALKIN March 9, 2019  120.4k views Watch out. Capitol Hill and Silicon Valley have locked their sights on the next targets of a frightening free speech-squelching purge: independent citizens who dare to raise questions online about the safety and efficacy of vaccines. I'm vaccinated. My ...

Being a Pariah

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. I just read a story written by a woman who described how she was received by her community after she suffered a still-birth. Of course, this is nothing to laugh about, as it is an absolute tragedy. But she said she became a pariah. As if what happened to her would rub off on someone else and they too would lose their baby. Chas Ve'shalom. So here it is: three things a person can do to become the most dangerous person no one wants to have anything to do with. 1. Admit there are bedbugs in your house 2. Suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth 3. Admit to not vaccinating Mind you, my kids are healthy. Were they to become sick, they'd be quarantined at home, no matter the illness, whether there is a vaccine for it, or no vaccine for it (there are waaaaaaay more illnesses for which there are no vaccines than the ones that have vaccines). So, even though I am a very responsible parent, I can't even tell people my kids had chicken pox ...

What I've Been Told

"You have no human value unless you vaccinate." How am I the problem? How are my children the problem? Human value? This attitude is pervasive. The Jewish community is facing a terrible crisis. It is not being caused by the unvaccinated. It is coming from the fear-mongering being perpetrated by local government and doctors who have forgotten what civil liberties are . They ignore "informed consent," "do no harm," and an international recommended code (1947) some of which has been widely accepted as a gold standard in ethical healthcare practices. They do not care for the middos, because they are only responsible for their own behavior. Since they just make pronouncements from a bully pulpit and don't interact as neighbors with one another, there is no fall out for their bad behavior. The terrible middos which is now excused by the rabbis, and even perpetrated by many rabbis, is shameful. The rabbis who support this attitude should be as...

Some One Sentence Anecdotes

People who are unvaccinated are human beings. We do not carry diseases. It may be shocking to hear this, but like everyone else, we are only contagious when we are sick with a contagious disease. You might not be able to believe this, but we are actually not sick that often. At all. So here are a few stories. All verified.  A single mother and her children were disinvited from a Seder for Pesach. (Unless they figure out an alternative, they'll now have to be alone) Some Jews on the fences of being frum have opted out because of how they were treated by the Jewish community for not vaccinating. People have lost faith in their rabbis, who do not care for them or even attempt to understand why they do not vaccinate.  A rabbi encouraged his student to get divorced over the vaccine issue because the young man's wife does not want to vaccinate their children.  Families no longer communicate with each other - non-vaccinating families are not welcome i...

When Rabbis Rule About Vaccines - Reading VAERS Reports

Image
What I need from my rabbi is empathy. When I talk to him about vaccines, he doesn't listen.  When I read the things written by very outspoken rabbis about vaccines, I shudder at the assumptions they make, both about me and about vaccines. I am not a rabbi. However, I know that before issuing a ruling, a few things need to be considered. 1. Facts of the case. There are many facts which have to be considered: the realities, the truth, the people involved. One really needs to understand the issue at hand deeply. In order to do that, one must research all angles of information to help form one's opinion. In some cases, a rabbi might issue one ruling for one person or family, while ruling differently in very similar circumstances for a different person or family. There are considerations which sometimes can not be put into words. 2. Halachic knowledge. There is a world of halachic knowledge and precedent which informs rulings we make in our time. A rabbi who issues a psak need...

One of the claims made is that Jews who choose not to vaccinate desecrate God's name. It's an argument. But the counter argument is that anything Jews do is fodder for anti-Semites' hatred. Bernie Madoff is a Jew. I hate what he did. I had nothing to do with it. Anti-Semites will say all Jews do ponzi-schemes. The vaccine-hesitancy movement has many more non-Jews in it than Jews. In that movement, who is the most reviled person? Dr. Stanley Plotkin, a Jew. Why? Because Dr. Plotkin is the world's foremost expert in vaccines, has been involved in the making of the most vaccines, and is one of the most go-to people when it comes to the question of vaccines and their safety. Dr. Plotkin was deposed last year in a custody battle where the divorcing couple had a debate over vaccinating the child at the center of their custody battle. Dr. Plotkin was the expert witness to support the need to vaccinate the child. He was on the stand for 8-9 hours. And he reveale...

What Would Our Grandparents Think?

Maybe our grandparents would think everyone should vaccinate. Maybe they wouldn't. It would really depend on if all the information about vaccines were readily available for all to see. It isn't, which is part of the problem. But they'd be mystified how vaccination is the litmus test as to whether we let Jews in our community institutions. None of them had vaccines. They didn't see other Jews as disease-carrying dangerous people. So here is how it goes today: You don't keep Shabbos? No problem. You're a sexually active homosexual? No problem. You don't follow the rules of taharat hamishpacha? No problem. You eat non-kosher? No problem. You are intermarried? No problem. You speak Lashon Hora regularly? No problem. You are unethical in certain business practices? No problem. ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE TORAH VIOLATIONS. You don't vaccinate? Get out of here! You are not welcome to daven, you are not welcome to study, you are not welcome to be...
